WiFi Not Working? The General Troubleshooting GuideUpdated 4 months ago

We know how frustrating WiFi connectivity issues can be. Whether you're setting up your Combustion WiFi Display, WiFi Booster, or other accessories for the first time or experiencing connection problems, we're here to help. This guide will help you resolve common WiFi connectivity issues.

Let's Start with the Basics

First Step: Reset Your Router

Sometimes the simplest solution works best. Here's how to reset your router:

  • Unplug your WiFi router from power
  • Take a 30-second break
  • Plug the router back in
  • Give it 2-3 minutes to fully restart
  • Try connecting your device again

Helpful tip: If you have a separate modem and router, start by resetting the modem first using these same steps, then move on to the router.

Check Your Network

Let's make sure everything is working as it should:

  • Try connecting other devices to your WiFi
  • Check if those devices can access the internet
  • Take a look at your router's lights:
    • Power light should be steady
    • Internet/Online light should be steady
    • WiFi light should either be on or blinking normally

Test Your Connection Source

Let's narrow down where the problem might be:

  • Connect any device directly to your modem with an ethernet cable
  • If the direct connection works but WiFi doesn't: Your router needs attention
  • If neither works: Time to contact your Internet Service Provider
  • If no devices can connect: Your ISP can help
