Cooking with more than one Predictive Thermometer? Whether you're running two roasts, a whole spread for the holidays, or a probe in each of several dishes, your Combustion setup is built to handle it. This guide covers how many you can run at once, how to tell them apart, and the questions we hear most from multi-probe cooks.

How many thermometers can I use at once?

• On the WiFi Display (and the original Display): up to 4 thermometers at the same time.
• In the app: you can manage even more than that, which is handy for a big cook with several dishes going.
• On a Booster: each Booster links to up to 4 thermometers, and you can use multiple Boosters together.

How do I tell my probes apart in the app?

This is where the app really shines for multi-probe cooks. Use the Edit & Identify screen:

• Identify a probe: the "identify" option helps you match each physical thermometer to the one shown on your screen, so you always know which reading belongs to which piece of food.
• Give each probe a nickname: name them by dish ("Brisket," "Turkey," "Pork Butt") so the app is instantly readable at a glance.
• Add a photo: attach a picture to each thermometer for an even faster visual ID.
• Reorder your probes: arrange them in whatever sequence matches how you're cooking.

Together, these let you look at your phone and know exactly what's happening with each dish without any guesswork.

How do I add another probe to my setup?

Good news: adding more thermometers is simple, and you usually don't need any extra gear beyond the probes themselves.

• Each Predictive Thermometer broadcasts on its own, so a new probe shows up in the app once you take it out of its charger (to wake it) and it's within range.
• If you use MeatNet Cloud, link the new probe to your Combustion account so it syncs across your devices.
• You only need one WiFi tool for your whole system. A single WiFi Booster, WiFi Display, or Giant Grill Gauge brings cloud connectivity to *all* your thermometers, so you don't need a WiFi device per probe.

How do I link multiple tools together? (the "Cuddle Pile")

If you're running several Boosters and/or a Display alongside your probes, link them so they share signals across the MeatNet mesh. We affectionately call this the Cuddle Pile.

Each Booster can be linked to up to 4 thermometers, and it works with multiple Boosters, with or without a Display.

Navigating multiple probes on the WiFi Display

The Display can show up to 4 thermometers, and you can move between them right on the device to check each one's temperatures.

Press the temp button to move through your readings. Each press advances through Core, then Surface, then Ambient for one thermometer, then carries on to the next thermometer in turn. Keep pressing to walk through every temperature on every connected probe.

For the fullest at-a-glance view of every probe at once, along with nicknames and photos, open the Combustion app.

Can I set different target temperatures for each probe?

Yes. Each thermometer is controlled independently, so you can give every probe its own target ("predict") temperature and its own SafeCook setting. Your medium-rare beef and your fully cooked poultry can run at the same time, each with its own countdown and its own doneness target.

Can I rename my probes and WiFi devices?

• Thermometers: yes. Give each probe a nickname (and a photo) from the Edit & Identify screen so they're easy to tell apart.
• WiFi devices (Boosters and Displays): not at the moment. There's currently no way to rename WiFi devices in the app. If you have more than one, it helps to keep track of them by where they live (for example, the Booster that stays out by the smoker).

A few tips for multi-probe cooking

• Name by dish, not by number. "Ribs" and "Chicken" are far easier to track than "Probe 1" and "Probe 2."
• Use the Identify feature whenever you're not sure which physical probe is which, especially when several are close together.
• Keep one WiFi tool near the action so your whole system stays connected to the cloud for remote monitoring.
• Line of sight helps every probe. If one thermometer is buried in a metal smoker, a nearby Booster or Display gives all of them a stronger signal.
