1. Power On the Gauge
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the battery door on the back.
- Insert the two included CR2450 batteries with the plus (+) side facing up.
- Reattach the battery door and tighten the screw.
- Press the yellow power button on the back. The display should turn on.
2. Update Firmware
- Download the Combustion Inc app from the iOS App Store or Google Play.
- Keep your phone within a few inches of the GGG.
- In the app, tap the gear icon → Settings → Update Devices.
- Wait until it shows Up-to-date for the Gauge.
⚠️ Only update one device at a time. Keep others turned off or in standby.
3. Assemble the Heat Shield or Heat Deflector
- Remove the collar and spring clip from the sensor tube.
- Insert the sensor tube into the center of the Heat Shield/Deflector until the plastic bit seats snugly in the silicone housing.
- Reattach the spring clip and collar as shown in the guide.
- Make sure the assembly feels secure and does not wobble.
4. Mount the Gauge to Your Grill
- Remove your old grill thermometer (usually held with a wing nut).
- Clean off any residue.
- Insert the Heat Shield/Deflector assembly through the same hole.
- Secure with the included washer and wing nut.
- Do not overtighten—finger-tight is enough.
5. Attach the Gauge Head
- Rotate the Gauge so that the buttons are at the bottom of the display.
- Snap it onto the Heat Shield/Deflector.
- Ensure the unit is centered on the silicone disc.
- Once properly seated, the GGG will display the current ambient temperature.
6. Link to Your Predictive Thermometer (CPT)
- Turn on the Giant Grill Gauge.
- Remove your Predictive Thermometer from its charger.
- Place it next to the GGG for a few seconds.
- A linked thermometer will show its temperature on the lower screen.
- Each GGG can link with up to 4 Predictive Thermometers.
7. Connect to WiFi
- Open the Combustion app → Settings → WiFi Devices.
- Select your Gauge, then tap Join Network.
- Choose your WiFi (2.4g) and enter your password.
- When setup is complete, you’ll see the signal strength displayed.
8. Storage Tips
- The GGG is removable—you can use one Gauge with multiple mounts.
- In mild climates, you may leave it on your grill.
- In freezing climates (below -4ºF / -20ºC), store indoors to protect the electronics.
