Release Notes and Update HistoryUpdated 5 hours ago

Every Combustion tool gets better after you buy it. App updates and firmware updates add features, improve accuracy, and fix bugs, and they are free for the life of the tool.

This page is the index. Each history below starts with the most recent release, so the top entry is always the current version.

Update histories

Combustion App Update History covers the iOS and Android apps, listed separately, since they do not always release together.

Thermometer Firmware Update History covers the Predictive Thermometer, including prediction and SafeCook changes.

Display Firmware Update History covers the WiFi Display and the first-generation Display.

Booster Firmware Update History covers the WiFi Booster and the first-generation Booster.

Am I up to date?

For the app, check your app store. The App Store and Google Play both show the installed version and offer the update if there is one.

For your tools, open the Combustion app. It tells you when firmware is available and shows an update banner on the main screen. To check a specific tool, open Settings, then go to the Update Devices page.

To confirm you are on the newest release, compare what the app shows against the top entry in the matching history above.

How to update

The app prompts you when an update is ready, and tapping the banner is usually all it takes.

Firmware Updates: Complete Guide has the full procedure, what order to do multiple tools in, and what to do if an update stalls or fails. Read it before your first update rather than during one.

Two things worth knowing before you start:

  • Update one tool at a time, and leave the others powered off if you can.
  • A Booster will not update while it is holding a thermometer, because a docked thermometer switches the Booster's radio off. Take the thermometer out first.

Recharge anything you have just updated. Firmware updates use a lot of battery.

Still have a question?

If an update will not apply, or a tool behaves differently after one, the Combustion App: Troubleshooting Guide and the troubleshooting guide for that tool are the places to start.

Otherwise, email [email protected] and tell us which tool, which version you are on, and what you are seeing.
