What your Combustion Engine's light means
Your Combustion Engine has a single light (LED) that shows its status at a glance: whether it's connected, charging, running low on battery, or powering down. Here is what each pattern means.
While it's running
Light | What it means |
| 3 quick white blinks every 5 seconds | The Engine is on but not yet connected to a Giant Grill Gauge or Predictive Thermometer. |
| 1 white blink every 5 seconds | The Engine is on and connected to at least one Giant Grill Gauge or Predictive Thermometer. |
| 1 red blink every ~2.5 seconds | The battery is low. This red blink appears in addition to the normal blink above, so plan to charge soon. |
While it's charging
Light | What it means |
| Solid amber | Charging |
| Solid green | Fully charged |
While it's powering off
Light | What it means |
| Turns white, then fades out | Normal shutdown (you turned the dial to Off). |
| Turns red, then fades out | The Engine is powering off because the battery ran out. Charge it before your next cook. |
A few things to keep in mind
- The low-battery red blink doesn't stop your cook right away, but it's your cue to charge. You can run the Engine while it charges over USB-C.
- If the light is solid amber and not turning green yet, give it more time to finish charging.
- When you turn the dial to Off, the light fades from white to off. If it fades from red instead, the battery had run out.
